Celebrity Diets - Are They Such a Good Idea?

There is not other profession that is under as much pressure to stay slim more than celebrities. Not only does it affect their earnings but there is the added pressure of the whole world watching. Most people can gain or loss 10 lbs and only a few people will notice. For them it will be a tabloid story, the start of internet rumors and can make the a punch line on late night TV. This is why they are willing to try diets that would seem bizarre if you had thought of it, but do they deliver on their promises?.

The Maple Syrup Diet (Master Cleanse Diet)

Hmmm, maple syrup, lemon juice, and cayenne pepper. Well, Beyonce swears by it after losing 20 lbs in 2 weeks but this is one you should think about before you try. First, It was not developed as a diet at all but rather a way of cleansing the colon. That should be red flag number one. Next, when used as a diet it is basically a crash diet and those do not have sustainable results. The human body tries to keep its self alive. When most of the calories are cut off the body panics and drops the metabolism to save energy. It is now in starvation mode. This means when you come off the diet your body needs time to adjust. Until then it will store everything it can. That candy bar you could eat before the diet now seems like a whole box of them

The Raw Food Diet

This diet wants you to eat everything, including meat, raw. While it is true that some vitamins are lost during the cooking process there are others that have to be cooked to be absorbed. Your best bet is just not to overcook your veggies. As for eating raw meat, well, would you enjoy trichinosis, salmonella, and tape worms? That is just what you are setting yourself up for along with a host of other parasites. Please cook your meat and don't listen to Demi Moore on this one.

The Cabbage Soup Diet

Michelle Geller loves this one but now we all know she farts a lot. Flatulence is a side effect of this diet. In reality it does work a little but only by causing you to lose water weight, not fat. Anything lost is going to be gained right back and now you will have a little stigma to contend with as well.

The Macrobiotic Diet

Consisting of whole grains, veggies, and miso soup, it sounds like Madonna might be on to something. The down sides are a lack of calcium, iron, and protein. The body needs these and you can end up anemic on this diet and speed up osteoporosis. That is not what you were trying for.

Perhaps your best bet with a celebrity diet is to follow Jennifer Lopez and Matt Damon. Rather than eliminating things from their diet they added something, Capsiplex. It works by letting your body get everything it needs while only raising your metabolism. This way you remain healthy; you just burn fat faster rather than storing it. Of the celebrity diets, this is finally a safe one.
